Hawks sanction GM Ferry for racist remarks

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks are keeping general manager Danny Ferry, even though the team’s new majority owner wants to fire him over his racially charged remarks about Luol Deng. CEO Steve Koonin told the Hawks’ flagship radio station Tuesday that he made the decision to discipline Ferry but allowed him to keep his job as team manager. He didn’t specify the penalty but said he relied on a three-month law firm investigation of Ferry and his description of Deng as someone who “has a little bit of African in him.”
