Former employee sues Simpsons creator Matt Groening because he and his wife “failed” to prevent sexual harassment

Matt Groening was named in a lawsuit filed by a former employee.

Giavanna Scotto has sued the 70-year-old Simpsons creator and his wife Agustina Picasso on several counts, including failure to prevent sexual harassment and failure to prevent sexual abuse and assault, according to TMZ.

She worked as a property manager for Groening on his Santa Monica estate and, according to her own account, complained about harassment by a colleague.

The lawsuit says Groening and Picasso, 47, “failed to intervene” when Scotto was sexually harassed by a colleague.

Scotto accused his colleague of touching her breasts and bottom without her consent and of kissing her on the mouth several times.

The plaintiff stated that she had received inappropriate text messages from her colleague containing content such as “Hello honey” and “Miss you”.

“I miss you so much. I love you. I hope you’re well. I love you. I love you,” she claimed he texted her, and also, “I love you, how is our son?”

She said she felt “mutilated” as he continued to harass her via text message, unfazed by her lack of response.

Scotto claimed the couple “failed to take appropriate remedial action” after she told Picasso, who “obviously knew about the harassment and did not act.”

In the lawsuit, she argued that the couple’s inaction resulted in her tormentor continuing his behavior even after she was hired.

Scotto also accused the couple of firing her in June 2022 without warning or reason.

Groening married Picasso in 2011 and became stepfather to their daughter Camila Constantini.

They also have son Nathaniel Philip, 11, twins Luna Margaret and India Mia, 9, 6-year-old twins Sol Matthew and Venus Ruth, daughter Nirvana, 4, and 2-year-old son Satori.

The Emmy award winner also has sons Homer and Abe with his ex-wife Deborah Caplan, whom he was married to from 1986 to 1999.

Season 36 of the animated series premieres in September.

After patriarch Homer joked in November that he no longer chokes his son Bart despite the lengthy story, Groening responded.

“Homer Simpson was unavailable for comment as he was busy strangling Bart,” he said, showing an illustration of the father choking his son.

Groening has won eleven Emmy Awards for “The Simpsons” and two for his series “Futurama.”
