SAPD patrol car involved in three-vehicle accident on the southwest side

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer and three others were involved in a three-vehicle crash on the Southwest Side.

According to police, an officer responded to a 911 call about a vehicle on fire around 5:30 p.m. Friday. The officer was driving east on Southcross Boulevard.

After the officer passed through the intersection at Huron Street, police said there was a head-on collision between a motorcycle traveling west on Southcross Boulevard and the patrol car.

Both the motorcycle and the patrol car were then pushed into a nearby vehicle at a traffic light, police said.

All three people were taken to hospital. The person on the motorcycle was in critical condition, according to police.

Authorities said the officer and the person in the other car were also being treated.

The injured officer reportedly suffered “some injuries.” Police said the officer had been with the department for two years.

The police are continuing their investigations.
