The life of a stepfather who raped a girl until she became pregnant

The man pleaded guilty to rape.

A Gauteng mother has had to deal with years of her partner raping her daughter until he got her pregnant.

The Roodepoort District Court sentenced the stepfather to life imprisonment for raping and impregnating his partner’s daughter.

The alleged rapes were committed over a long period of time and the complainant did not report them because the accused threatened to kill her. The victim was 15 years old when she reported the incidents on June 25, 2022.

She said she had been raped since she was 11 years old. At the time of reporting, she had just given birth.

The court heard that the state conducted DNA and paternity tests on the defendant and the newborn child.

“The results were positive. The complainant mentioned that the rape took place when her mother was working as a domestic worker and remained at her job.”

He pleaded guilty.

Judge Ettiene Van Niekerk agreed with the state that the stepfather had abused his position of trust and only pleaded guilty because there was overwhelming evidence against him.
