Domestic worker arrested for raping toddler – Crime

A domestic worker (22) was arrested over the weekend for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl in Ohamwiimbi village in the Ohangwena region.

The girl’s aunt says she left her niece alone at home with the worker on Friday to fetch water.

“I left the child with the young man who looks after the house. I didn’t think anything of it because I usually leave the child with him.

“The next morning, however, I noticed that my niece was crying while urinating. I asked the child what was wrong and she told me what had been done to her,” she says.

Acting Ohangwena Regional Police Commander Bennett Muyambago said the suspect is due to appear before the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
