Man arrested after threatening residents and barricading himself in west Houston apartment

A man was arrested after a standoff with police and a SWAT team at a west Houston apartment complex.

The incident began when Houston police received a call reporting that the man, who owed money to another person, was threatening someone with a gun in the 12700 block of Ashford Point. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect fled on foot and presumably entered an apartment.

A woman then reported that the suspect ran into her apartment with a gun and threatened her as well. Officers set up a perimeter around the area. Another person left the apartment and claimed the suspect was not inside. However, another witness later stated that the suspect was in his apartment.

After the suspect’s location was confirmed, the SWAT team began negotiating with him to surrender. The situation escalated when the suspect broke through the drywall of one apartment into another and attempted to escape through another door. Officers arrested the man as he attempted to leave the scene and he was positively identified as the suspect.

The suspect was arrested on a probation warrant and faces additional charges of threatening the woman he lived with and breaking into other residences. No injuries were reported.
