Two people are seriously injured after the driver ignores the overtaking ban, resulting in a serious accident

MILAM COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) – Two people were seriously injured after a two-vehicle accident in which a driver attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, according to Texas DPS.

On May 7, Texas DPS responded to a crash on US 79 near CR 356 with reports of a serious crash with injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Seguin was driving a 2006 Ford Focus northbound and a 51-year-old woman from Rockdale was driving a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound.

An investigation into the crash revealed that the driver of the Ford Focus violated a no-passing zone near the top of a hill and crashed into the Hyundai in the southbound lane, according to Texas DPS.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Texas DPS says.

The driver of the Ford Focus was cited for violating a passing ban and authorities continue to investigate the accident.
