Joann Shiao and Jian Zhang arrested in connection with prostitution investigation in Boaz

BOAZ, Alabama (WAFF) – Two women were arrested in Boaz on Thursday in connection with a prostitution investigation.

According to Boaz Police, Joann Shiao and Jian Zhang were charged with promoting prostitution at two different massage parlors in Marshall County.

Police said they arrested Pro Massage owner Zhang and an Aromatherapy Spa employee Shiao.

Police Chief Mike Turner of the Boaz Police Department said the investigation took a year to lead to the arrests.

Turner said officers relied on surveillance footage and the cooperation of guests to detain the employees.

The Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board supported the department.

The investigation is ongoing and further witnesses, customers and clients are being contacted.
