Remembering Co Donegal man killed in industrial accident – The Irish News

An investigation is underway after a man died in an industrial accident in County Donegal.

According to locals, the man is 35-year-old Anthony Devlin from Buncrana, a father of two children.

He apparently died as a result of injuries sustained while carrying out mechanical work in the Illies area of Inishowen on Tuesday.

Gardaí were informed of the incident on Tuesday evening and a spokesman said the local coroner had been informed in advance of an autopsy.

“The HSA (Health Safety Authority) has been notified and is conducting its own investigations,” they added.

An obituary for Mr Devlin states: “Anthony will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his beloved fiancée Grainne, his beloved sons Joe and Odhran, his beloved parents Philip and Una, his sisters Tara, Tina, Leanne, his brother-in-law Ian, his grandmother Annie Devlin, his aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours and his many friends and extended family.”

In a social media post on Wednesday, his sister Leanne wrote that Anthony was “the best big brother in the world.”

His other sister Tara said in a post: “He looks down on two beautiful boys and a beautiful fiancée who adored him. Rest in peace brother.”

His friend Rosie McElhinney wrote that Anthony was “always a gentleman” with a “big smile.”

James Kelly wrote: “I have great memories of Anthony, he was always up for a joke.”

The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in the Cockhill district of Buncrana, followed by burial in the adjacent cemetery.

The tragedy follows the deaths of two people, a 17-year-old and a man in his 40s, in industrial accidents in County Cavan last month.

Meanwhile, last week a man in his 70s from County Laois died in a farming accident in County Offaly.
