Mike Gundy says star RB Ollie Gordon II will not be suspended after drunk driving arrest

Oklahoma State football head coach Mike Gundy does not plan to suspend star running back Ollie Gordon II following his DUI arrest last month.

“He’s going to play,” Gundy told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Tuesday at Big 12 Media Day. Gundy added that there will be internal punishment for Gordon, but he won’t miss a game. Gundy added that Gordon was brought to Big 12 Media Day to speak to the media in person and be held accountable for his arrest in a public forum.

Gordon was stopped last month in Moore, Oklahoma, after he was observed drifting out of his lane and speeding. The arresting officer smelled alcohol in the vehicle, and half-full bottles of vodka and tequila were in the car Gordon was driving. He refused a breathalyzer test and was in the Cleveland County Jail with blood alcohol levels of .11 and .10, both of which are above the legal limit of .08 in Oklahoma. He faces several charges, including driving while under 21.

Gordon released a statement on his X-Account on Monday apologizing for his behavior.

Gordon was the nation’s leading runner last season, rushing for 1,732 yards and 22 touchdowns. He was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and won the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the best running back in college football.
