Motorcycle accident on Interstate 81 claims fatalities

According to PSP Chambersburg Trooper Bret Smalt, Mark A. Cramer Jr. of Shippensburg tragically lost control of his 2020 Harley-Davidson Road-Glide Limited at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, on Interstate 81 near mile marker 6.7 in Antrim Township.

Mark’s motorcycle left the road and landed on the grass verge, where he came off the road. The motorcycle and Mark were about 40 feet apart. According to Trooper Smalt, Mark was found lying in the road.

“Initial findings indicate that he was struck by a semi-trailer truck,” Smalt wrote in the press release. Mark was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Mark graduated from Shippensburg Area High School in 2009, where he played college football and baseball, according to his MaxPreps profile and obituary. He later worked as an arborist and served as a sports turf engineering foreman at Quality Turf, according to his obituary.

Mark was an avid fisherman and a member of the PA Striped Bass Association fishing team, Uncontrolled Chaos, and the Hub City Club in Shippensburg. He also loved camping, riding his Harley, and grilling or smoking on his Grill Master.

Mark leaves behind his parents, his wife, two children, two brothers and his extended family.

“A celebration of life and tribute ride in Mark’s honor will be held at a later date,” his obituary reads.
