Human remains found in woods on Southeast Side; homicide investigation underway – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The discovery of a woman’s remains in a wooded area of ​​southeast Indianapolis Sunday morning has sparked a murder investigation.

According to a press release Tuesday, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Keystone Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. because possible human remains had been found in the woods.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the remains of a woman.

The incident was classified as a homicide.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the manner and cause of death. The woman’s identity will be released once family is notified.
