Maryland will experience dangerous heat and humidity through Wednesday.

BALTIMORE — Dangerous heat and humidity warnings last through Wednesday. The extreme heat will ease later this week.

Temperatures Monday afternoon reached 95 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit with moderate to high humidity. Heat indices rose to 95 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit across much of central and eastern Maryland. A warm front continues to slowly move northward across the area and will bring some isolated thunderstorms during the evening hours, especially south and east of Baltimore.

Lowest temperatures tonight will be between 25 and 25 degrees Celsius with partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the worst feeling days of the week due to higher humidity. Highs on Tuesday will rise above 35 degrees, with feels ranging from 38 to 42 degrees. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are possible, but many places will remain dry. Wednesday will be another oppressively hot day with even higher humidity. Highs will reach the mid 35 degrees, with feels ranging from 38 to 43 degrees. More isolated thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon.

During this time, it is important to check in with the elderly and sick, as well as your pets, to make sure they are safely weathering the heat. It is also important to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take breaks from air conditioning.

Isolated thunderstorms with minimum temperatures between 25 and 25 degrees Celsius are possible on Wednesday evening and at night.

A cold front will approach the area and linger Thursday night into Saturday. At the same time, the remnants of Beryl will pass north of us, bringing tropical humidity northward. The lingering frontal boundary may trigger showers and storms late Thursday, Friday, and part of Saturday. The position of the front will determine how far the storms reach into the region, but for now, it looks like Friday offers the best chance for widespread showers and storms.

As high pressure strengthens over the weekend, the chance of showers and thunderstorms decreases. We’ll see some remnants of thunderstorms on Saturday, especially on I-95 and further east. Sunday will be hot and humid, with highs back to around 35 degrees.

Another brutal bout of heat and humidity is likely early next week, with highs above 35 degrees and heat indices in the triple digits. There is a chance of isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms next Monday afternoon and evening.
