A woman was arrested for assault after an Independence Day celebration with friends in the Chinatown International District turned into a violent physical altercation.

At 6:09 p.m., police officers responded to the 1000 block of South Jackson Street for a report of a person believed to have been stabbed and was bleeding profusely. When officers arrived, a 51-year-old woman was found with head injuries. She was treated by the Seattle Fire Department and taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Upon further investigation, police concluded that the woman’s injuries were the result of a botched Fourth of July Independence Day celebration during which a physical altercation broke out between two women and the 45-year-old suspect struck the 51-year-old victim on the head several times with a metal water bottle.

Police arrested several suspects at the home where the argument occurred and, following the investigation, arrested the 45-year-old woman. She was booked into the King County Jail on assault charges.

A carpet knife and two aluminum water bottles were seized at the crime scene as evidence.

Officials said there were reports that a firearm may have been used in the robbery, but no firearm was found during a search of the home.
