One dead in possible drowning in Jackson County

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – One person died Wednesday after being pulled from Wampler’s Lake by Jackson County officials who responded to a 911 call about a possible drowning accident Wednesday.

Officials said they received a call at 1 p.m. Wednesday that someone was floating face down near the shore in Wampler’s Lake.


Officers arrived within two minutes, entered the water and, with the help of neighbors and rescue workers, pulled the “elderly person” to shore.

Rescue workers from Jackson Community Ambulance rendered medical assistance and were able to regain a pulse. However, the injured man died in hospital just over an hour later.

According to official information, there is no suspicion of third-party negligence.
