1 person injured, suspect arrested in shooting in northeast Portland

PORTLAND, Oregon – A man was shot in the leg in the Rose City Park neighborhood of northeast Portland Thursday night and another man was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Portland police said officers responded to a reported shooting at Northeast 61st Avenue and Thompson Street around 9:30 p.m. They found the victim with a T-shirt tied around his leg, which neighbors were pressing against the wound. Officers applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding until emergency responders arrived to take him to the hospital. The man is expected to survive.

Police said the shooter returned to the scene during the investigation and turned himself in. Lonne A. Woodlee, 42, was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. Woodlee is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team are investigating the shooting.

Preliminary data from the PPB shows that there have been at least 437 shootings in the city this year, injuring 122 people. That’s the lowest number of shootings the city has seen since 2020.
