North Carolina man charged with drunken driving after driving the wrong way on Highway 33

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A North Carolina man is facing multiple charges, including vehicular assault and drunken driving, after a crash on Route 33 Sunday morning.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced that Isiah Glover, 43, of Concord, North Carolina, was arraigned Sunday in Buffalo City Court on one count of second-degree vehicular assault, one count of driving while intoxicated and one count of driving the wrong way on a one-way road.

Glover is accused of driving the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of Highway 33 and causing a head-on collision with another vehicle near Humboldt Parkway. He was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The other driver, a 25-year-old man from Cheektowaga, was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to ECMC.

Glover was not injured in the crash. He is due back Wednesday for a felony hearing and has been ordered held without bail.

“Our law enforcement partners will be patrolling the roads this holiday weekend. We are committed to keeping our streets safe. If you are operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will be prosecuted.”
