US Presidential Debate 2024 Updates: Biden Struggles, Trump Deflects | US Election News 2024

While foreign policy and the Middle East came up numerous times during the debate, there was little mention of the suffering of the Palestinians and the consequences of Israel’s brutal campaign in Gaza, despite growing calls for the United States to United to end their military assistance to Israel.

While hosts Dana Bash and Jake Tapper mentioned that “thousands” of Palestinians had been killed, the onset of famine conditions in Gaza and the mass destruction went unnoticed.

More than 90 percent of the population of the Palestinian territory has been displaced and more than 37,000 people have been killed, most of them women and children.

Biden falsely claimed that all parties except Hamas had accepted his ceasefire proposal.

Trump, meanwhile, said Biden had become “like a Palestinian” and retorted that Israel should be allowed to “finish the job” in Gaza.

“That comment was blatantly racist,” Ayah Ziyadeh, director of American Muslims for Palestine, told Al Jazeera. “Calling Biden a ‘bad Palestinian’ and using the term ‘Palestinian’ as an insult shows the depth of racism that exists here.”
