Clayton County Police said officers received a call reporting several people entering a vacant home on Chippewa Drive.

According to CCPD, officers arrived at the scene and began giving verbal orders to the suspects to leave the house.

According to CCPD, one of the suspects came out the back door of the house and made contact with an officer who was stationed at the front of the house.

The officer said the suspect was armed.

According to CCPD, at that moment the officer ordered the suspect to stop as he was running in the direction of the other officers who were trying to escort the other suspects out of the house.

The officer then drew his weapon and shot the 18-year-old suspect.

The CCPD said it does not appear the suspect fired his weapon, but the investigation is ongoing.

The police took three other suspects out of the house and took them into custody: two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old.

The CCPD said the officer involved had been placed on leave.

The GBI is currently investigating and will release further details as the case progresses.
