Only 3 Falcons make CBS NFL Top 100 list

The Atlanta Falcons, a team with diverse talent, received some love in a recent ranking of the NFL’s top 100 players from CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco. But not enough.

Prisco’s list, which should spark heated debates among fans, included just three Falcons: guard Chris Lindstrom, safety Jessie Bates and quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Lindstrom was the highest-rated Falcons player on the list at 28th.

“Chris Lindstrom was named second team All-Pro, but should have made the first team. He is a strong player in the running game who has improved his pass protection and should start to get more acclaim this season,” Prisco wrote.

After Lindstrom for the Falcons, Bates was 44th overall.

“After signing with the Falcons, Bates was an impact player on Atlanta’s defense. He’s good against the run, but he’s more than capable in coverage, as evidenced by his six picks last season,” Prisco wrote.

Cousins rounded out the Falcons on the list at No. 98.

“He signed a free agent contract with the Falcons in March after seven seasons in Minnesota. He only started eight games last season due to a torn Achilles tendon. When he came out, he had 18 touchdown passes to lead the league at the time,” Prisco wrote.

Bates III and Cousins’ rankings should arguably be higher. Also notable is the absence of defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and cornerback AJ Terrell from the roster.

Two of the top ten players at their respective positions (tough positions), Jarrett and Terrell have valid cases to make the list. Younger talents such as Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts also have the potential to make the roster sooner rather than later.

But regardless, Atlanta should have at least four players on this roster, not three.
