Two women were attacked in Ventura over the weekend by e-bike riders who allegedly threw rocks at one victim and kicked another.

The incidents were reported around 10:25 p.m. on Saturday after police received several calls about a group of disruptive minors riding e-bikes in the area of Main Street and Peking Street.

“The juveniles allegedly attacked a 66-year-old homeless woman by kicking and stomping on her while she was lying in a sleeping bag,” Ventura police said in a press release Monday.

A second woman at the same location reported to police that the e-bikers had thrown stones at her and that she herself had been hit with a stone.

About ten minutes later, the police received another emergency call reporting that a group of minors – presumably the same group – were causing a disturbance on e-bikes near the Crown Plaza Hotel.

“The group reportedly spat at people as they rode past on their bicycles,” police said.

While officers were still talking to the victims near Main Street and Peking Street, the teens returned on their e-bikes, according to police.

Officers were able to stop one of the riders, an unidentified 13-year-old boy from Ventura, who was accompanied by a minor in the back seat of the motorcycle, police said.

The teenager was arrested for assault after the victim identified him as one of the youths who threw a rock at her. The boy was later released to his mother.

The remaining minors, including the attacker of the homeless woman, were not found.
