Man charged with sexually abusing his niece in Labasa

The man who allegedly sexually abused his niece in Labasa has been charged with sexual assault and appeared before the Labasa Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

According to police, the accused was accused of staying with the victim’s family on the 6th of this month. He entered the victim’s room, which she shared with her sister, while the two were sleeping and committed the alleged crime.

They say the victim then informed her parents about the incident.

According to police, the defendant was given a $500 bail under strict conditions and the case was adjourned to July 30, 2024 for settlement.

A Domestic Violence Prevention Order (DCVRO) was issued against the defendant.
