North Carolina man charged with child rape and several other sex offenses

A North Carolina man is accused of raping a child and several other sexual offenses.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report that 21-year-old Carlos Archila-Escalante of Siler City had sexually abused a child.

On June 10, investigators searched Archila-Escalante’s home and charged him with the following crimes:

  • Aggravated rape in the second degree
  • Serious crime for rape of a child
  • Serious sexual offense involving a child
  • Serious crime for indecent acts against a child
  • Offense contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile
  • Sexual assault as a minor offense
  • Serious possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Serious crime against nature
  • Aggravated sex crime in the second degree
  • Aggravated attempted kidnapping in the second degree

Archila-Escalante was issued a $40,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court on July 23.
