“She should move on and live a fulfilling life,” says Dr. Mohammad Ali

A Jackson doctor is now telling the story of how he helped one of the victims of the recent shark attacks in Walton County, Florida. Dr. Mohammad Ali of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and his friend Dr. Ryan Forbess of Orange Beach, Alabama, were vacationing with their families at Seacrest Beach last week when they saw a 15-year-old girl attacked by a shark near shore. Ali said it was a terrifying moment as the teen suffered severe injuries to her leg and hand. Ali said he did his best to stop the bleeding and is grateful the teen was able to survive. “I think I would do the same for others that millions of other professionals would do if they were in the same situation,” Ali said. “It was just a miracle that we had the people we had and that she got the outcome that she did. She should go on and live a full life.” Ali said since the incident, he has been able to reach the survivor via Facetime and chat with her. He said she has a long road to recovery ahead of her but is doing well. As a result of the attack, she lost a leg and a hand.
