JPD arrests youth in terror incident

JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – A male juvenile was arrested by Jamestown police Monday night after allegedly pointing a pellet gun at another juvenile during a property dispute.

On June 3rd, at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 2nd Ave SE and 3rd St SE for a report of terror involving a firearm. According to police, a young man pointed a gun at another young man claiming stolen property.

Shortly thereafter, a police officer spotted three people matching the description of those involved walking south on 4th Ave SE. One of the juveniles reportedly had an object in his waistband that matched the description of the gun.

The officer retrieved the item, which turned out to be a BB gun that resembled a Glock pistol. The BB gun had no markings that would distinguish it from a real firearm. The juvenile suspect also reportedly possessed and consumed alcoholic beverages.

The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a dispute between two teenagers over stolen property. The suspect allegedly confronted the victim because he believed the victim had stolen something from him. The suspect then allegedly pulled out the BB gun and pointed it at the victim, who fled the scene on a bicycle and called for help.

The juvenile suspect was arrested for terrorizing and possession of alcohol. He will be handed over to the youth welfare office. The incident remains under investigation.
