Man dies in Wake County when car crashes into tree

APEX, NC (WNCN) — According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old man is dead after a car crashed into a tree in Wake County early Monday morning.

Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred at about 2:56 a.m. on Green Level Church Road near Apex when the driver of a 2014 Nissan 370z drove off the right side of the road, struck a manhole cover and then struck a tree.

The 19-year-old, the only occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the highway patrol, he was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol and speed were factors in the accident.

The identity of the driver was not disclosed.
