Workers recover after forklift accident in Racine

RACINE, Wisconsin – Two people are recovering after a forklift accident in Racine that resulted in the deployment of Flight for Life helicopters.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29. The South Shore Fire Department and Mount Pleasant Police Department received a report from the Case IH plant in Racine, 2701 Oakes Road, of a tractor with two people trapped inside.

When officers arrived, the workers were trapped under the forks of a forklift that had fallen on them. By the time officers arrived on scene, the forks had already been raised.

The people suffered significant injuries to their lower extremities. The South Shore Fire Department initiated life-saving measures. The people were eventually flown by Flight for Life helicopters to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Her injuries are said to be critical but not life-threatening at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
