British Columbia man charged with attempted murder after alleged knife attack: RCMP

NORTH VANCOUVER, BC — A man has been charged with attempted murder and other crimes after he allegedly slashed cars with a knife and then attacked a motorcyclist in North Vancouver, BC, over the weekend, according to police.

NORTH VANCOUVER, BC — A man has been charged with attempted murder and other crimes after he allegedly slashed cars with a knife and then attacked a motorcyclist in North Vancouver, BC, over the weekend, according to police.

The RCMP said they received several reports of a man with a knife near an intersection south of the Deep Cove neighbourhood on Saturday afternoon.

A statement from police spokesman Cst. Mansoor Sahak said the man damaged several cars before hitting the motorcyclist on the helmet, causing him to fall from his motorcycle near Mount Seymour Parkway and Deep Cove Road.

Sahak says a passing motorist helped the driver, who suffered minor injuries.

The statement said that within a few minutes, numerous officers were on the scene and took the suspect into custody. The man is said to have attacked an officer.

According to police, the North Vancouver man was charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, menacing, criminal damage, assault on a police officer and possession of a weapon.
