Memorial Day Ceremonies and Events in Metro Atlanta

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States to honor and mourn American military personnel who died while serving in the United States armed forces.

The following is a list of Memorial Day ceremonies and events in metro Atlanta.

Parades

31st Annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade: Begins at 10 a.m. May 27, starting at Hebron Baptist Church and passing through Dacula, honoring those who sacrificed for the nation.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Town of Acworth Memorial Day Ceremony: Set for 10 a.m. May 25 at Cauble Park, honoring veterans and featuring engraved paving stones.

City of Alpharetta Memorial Day Ceremony: Departure at 9 a.m. from the Town Hall. Keynote speaker, General Dale Alford.

Town of Dunwoody Memorial Day Ceremony: At 10 a.m. May 27 at Brook Run Park, featuring speakers and performances. Dunwoody Police Chief Michael Carlson, Georgia National Guard Capt. (right), will serve as guest speaker.

Henry County Memorial Day Ceremony: Performs at 11 a.m. May 27 at the Veterans Wall of Honor in McDonough, followed by museum tours. Tours of the Heritage Park Veterans Museum will be available following the ceremony.

Marietta Memorial Day Ceremony: Help the Boy Scouts place the flags starting at 8 a.m. at the Marietta National Ceremony on Washington Avenue NE. Ceremony at noon.

Town of Milton Memorial Day Ceremony: Taking place at 10 a.m. May 27 on the Green at Crabapple Market, featuring dignitaries and a dove release. The guest speaker will be Maj. Gen. William B. Dyer II, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 108th Training Command.

Norcross Memorial Day Ceremony: Starts at 11:30 a.m. May 27 at Thrasher Park, includes barbecue. The Mayor will speak and there will be a moving bagpipe performance and much more.

Roswell City Memorial Day Ceremony: At 11 a.m. May 27 at Roswell City Hall, followed by a barbecue lunch. Col. Rick White, a Norcross native and retired U.S. Army veteran, will be the guest speaker.

Senoia Memorial Day Celebration: Starts at 5 p.m. May 25 at Senoia City Park in Marimac Lakes, with entertainment, food trucks and fireworks.

Smyrna City Memorial Day Ceremony: Starts at 9:30 a.m. May 27 at the Twentieth Century Veterans Memorial on King Street SE.

Snellville Memorial Day Ceremony: At 3:30 p.m. on May 25 in front of the Veterans Memorial at City Hall, with subsequent festivities.

Memorial Day Weekend in the Lanier Islands: Fireworks over Lake Lanier, live music at the Legacy Lodge pool and Margaritaville, poolside movies at Legacy Lodge and the start of a new roller coaster at Fins Up Water Park.

Memorial Day Community Dinner at Omega Support Center: From 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 25 in Tucker, offering a variety of dishes.

Atlanta Memorial Weekend White Party: From 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. May 26 at 4300 Buford Highway, with international DJs.

Food/drink offers/specials

Kona-Grill: Offering red, white and blue margarita flights and a 20% discount for veterans from May 24-27.

Twin Peaks: 20% off food for veterans and first responders on Memorial Day.
