National shutdown for truck drivers suspended – SABC News

Reading time: < 1 minute

The nationwide shutdown for truck drivers has been canceled.

The All African Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa say the suspension follows an urgent meeting with relevant stakeholders.

The forum has again called on the government to ban foreign truck drivers from operating in South Africa.

It insists that truck driving is not a rare skill that justifies employing drivers from neighboring countries.

About 700 workers in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng are expected to see their wages reduced.
