Live updates: 1 dead after tornado in Barnsdall, storm moves through Green Country | News

As FOX23 tracks severe weather across the Green Country, this story will be updated over time.

12:30 a.m. – One person has died as a result of the storm in Barnsdall, according to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.

12:25 a.m. – Only Okmulgee County currently has a tornado warning. It ends at 1am

12:09 a.m. – A tornado warning was issued for Creek and Okmulgee County until 1 a.m

Storm damage in Green Country – Update at 12:00 p.m.



12:00 a.m. – Bartlesville Police are reporting injuries, but an exact number is not available at this time. According to police, there are currently no fatalities. They said the Hampton Inn was hit and the steeple of the Highland Park Baptist Church was knocked down.

11:30 p.m. – A look at the PSO and OGE outage maps shows that approximately 8,192 customers are affected by power outages in the FOX23 viewing area.

11:30 p.m. – According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Highway 11 is blocked in Barnsdall due to gas leaks and downed power lines. OHP also says other roads in the area are blocked due to debris. For a link to the FOX23 traffic page, click HERE.

11:23 p.m. – A tornado warning has been issued for Creek and Okfuskee County until midnight.

11:15 p.m. – The National Weather Service said the threat of significant severe weather remains along and near the I-44 corridor. All types of severe weather and an increasing risk of flash flooding remain possible until the early hours of Tuesday morning.

11:05 p.m. – A Tornado Warning has been issued for Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Tulsa and Wagoner Counties until 1 a.m

11 p.m. – Some images of storm damage from Barnsdall were sent to FOX23. This is the second tornado to hit Barnsdall in a month.

10:47 p.m. – The east side of Bartlesville is without power, according to the Washington County Undersheriff. Damage was also reported southwest and south of downtown Bartlesville, with trees and possible damage to homes also reported. The undersheriff said the tornado jumped and then hit the east side of Bartlesville. They are also reporting trees and home damage near Highway 75 north of the Walmart in Bartlesville.

10:41 p.m. – Washington County Emergency Management reports Highway 75 north of Frank Phillips and south of Tuxedo is blocked in both directions due to debris.

10:40 p.m. – FOX23 reporter and anchor Rick Maranon is in Barnsdall reporting extensive damage and debris in Barnsdall, including trees and even a roof on the street. Rick also reports the smell of gas in the neighborhood where he is staying.

10:30 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Cherokee, Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Ottawa, Rogers and Wagoner Counties until 11:15 p.m

10:19 p.m. – The tornado warning for Washington County has been canceled.

10:10 p.m. – A tornado warning was issued in Washington County until 10:45 p.m

10:03 p.m. – FOX23 Storm Tracker Brandon Hubbard is in Barnsdall reporting numerous damaged structures.

9:56 p.m. – At 9:56 p.m., a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located 4 miles south of Bartlesville Municipal Airport and moving northeast at 50 mph.

9:50 p.m. – At 9:46 p.m., a confirmed large and destructive tornado was located 4 miles northeast of Barnsdall and was moving northeast at a speed of 50 mph. Washington County Emergency Management said there was a confirmed tornado at Onion Prairie Road and Highway 123.

9:41 p.m. – A tornado warning was issued for Osage and Washington counties until 10:15 p.m. A confirmed large and destructive tornado was over Barnsdall, moving northeast at 35 mph.

9:32 p.m. – A large tornado is approaching Barnsdall as of 9:30 p.m.

9:22 p.m. – A confirmed tornado struck southeast Osage County at 9:21 p.m. Debris is thrown into the radar signal east of Hominy and moves toward Barnsdall and eventually Bartlesville.

9:20 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Creek, Osage, Pawnee and Tulsa Counties until 10:15 p.m

9:19 p.m. – The tornado warning for Pawnee County has expired. The tornado warning is in effect for Osage County until 9:45 p.m

9:00 p.m. – A tornado warning was issued for Osage and Pawnee County until 9:45 p.m

8:56 p.m. – A tornado warning was issued for Chautauqua County until 9:30 p.m

8:39 p.m. – A tornado warning was issued for Osage County until 9:15 p.m

8:25 p.m. – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Pawnee and Osage County until 9:15 p.m. The National Weather Service in Tulsa said the severe thunderstorm included wind gusts of 70 mph and half-dollar-sized hail. They also said hail damage to vehicles, significant tree damage and wind damage are expected.

8:23 p.m. – FOX23 Chief Meteorologist James Aydelott shared the following weather update on Facebook.

8:22 p.m. – A Tornado Warning has been issued for Nowata, Okmulgee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington Counties until 11 p.m

8:12 p.m. – FOX23 Certified Meteorologist Mike Grogan shared the following weather update on Facebook.

7:57 p.m. – A FOX23 Storm Tracker shared the following photo taken in Covington.

7:28 p.m. – Wagoner County Emergency Management said the Wagoner County Emergency Operations Center was activated.

7:24 p.m. – Rogers County Emergency Management said the storm siren in the West Side School District was struck by lightning. It is currently out of service. Rogers County Emergency Management said you should never rely on an outdoor warning as a primary source and always have a plan.

7:00 p.m. – A tornado warning is in effect for Creek, Okfuskee, Osage and Pawnee County until 11:00 p.m. The U.S. National Weather Service in Tulsa said the tornado warning is in the “particularly dangerous situation” category. A flood warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday for Osage, Washington, Nowata, Craig, Ottawa, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Delaware, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee and Wagoner Counties.
