CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Clay County man was killed in an accident at a grain elevator Monday evening.

The Cory Volunteer Fire Department received an emergency call around 8 p.m. Monday evening that a grain silo might be trapped.

According to Glen Neiswinger, fire chief of the Cory Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters arrived at the farm in Cory, Indiana, in the area of 6600 West County Road 350 South.

“When we got there, we didn’t know where he was,” said Neiswinger. “The tractor and the auger were still running. We knew he had to be in the bin.”

Firefighters cut holes in the walls of the grain bin to let the grain out. They found the victim and determined that he was dead.
