Purvis man charged with aggressive driving in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Mississippi (WHLT) – Hattiesburg Police have arrested a Purvis man in connection with a DUI incident.

Police said they were called to the 6700 block of U.S. Highway 49 on Saturday, July 20. They said the incident involved a semi-trailer truck and a passenger vehicle.

A witness told police that the driver of the passenger car fired shots at the semi-trailer, hitting the cab, passenger tire and radiator. No one was injured.

Hattiesburg police said Denton Temple, 53, turned himself in to authorities and admitted his involvement in the incident. He was charged with one count of aggravated assault: use of a deadly weapon, one count of shooting at a motor vehicle and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Temple was taken to the Forrest County Jail.
