Paramedics took the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, but he could not be saved. The victim’s name was not immediately released as police worked to notify his family of the death.

Less than two hours later, more shootings occurred in the Melrose section of the Bronx. At about 5:55 p.m., a 41-year-old man was shot in the chest on Park Avenue near East 158th Street, police said. The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was in critical condition, they said.
