1 dead in traffic accident on I-70

RICHFIELD — One person is dead after a crash on Interstate 70 Sunday morning, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

A tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on I-70 about 4:50 a.m. Sunday, about 10 miles west of the Colorado border in Grand County, when the driver of the tractor-trailer veered off the road to the right for an “unknown reason,” a Utah Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The driver of the semi-trailer truck “oversteered” and came to a stop on the road, the spokesman said. A motor home drove into the overturned semi-trailer truck, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

A passenger in the motorhome suffered fatal injuries.

The Utah Highway Patrol has not identified the deceased.
