Simaltal disaster: Indian team continues search for missing passengers – myRepublica

KATHMANDU, July 21: A team of Indian divers and rescue workers are still searching for the missing buses and passengers. The buses were washed away by a landslide in Simaltal on the Narayanghat-Mugling road.

More than 200 security personnel were deployed to search for passengers.

According to Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav, a 12-member team of India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been conducting the search operation since this morning.

Of the 65 passengers on the buses, three survived, the other 62 are missing. So far, 25 bodies have been found in various locations and 17 people have been identified.

The whereabouts of the two buses and the 37 passengers are still unknown. The rescue team from India came to Nepal at the request of the government because the country lacked personnel and suitable equipment.
