Attempted stabbing foiled after HPD officer discharges gun at suspect in southwest Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An investigation is underway in southwest Houston after a suspect was reportedly shot and killed by law enforcement shortly before noon Saturday, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident took place in the 12600 block of Westheimer at Dairy Ashford, near a cemetery.

HPD posted a message on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, saying police arrived at the scene after someone called law enforcement saying a man with a knife was trying to stab another person.

Authorities said that once officers arrived, a short foot chase ensued before one officer discharged his weapon, striking the knife-wielding man.

The suspect’s condition and injuries are unknown.

No further information was released, with HPD saying the scene remained active.
