Pedestrian hit by car in pedestrian accident on Willow Street in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (July 16, 2024) – A man suffered upper body injuries in a pedestrian accident on Willow Street near the 710 Freeway.

According to reports, the pedestrian accident occurred on Monday at around 12:42 a.m. For unknown reasons, a westbound driver struck a pedestrian who had just stepped off the north curb.

Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department subsequently arrived and treated the victim before transporting him to the hospital with upper body injuries. Although he was hospitalized, his vital signs were stable.

After the accident, the driver cooperated with police investigators. Officers do not suspect that the driver’s impairment or distraction could have been the cause.

However, anyone with further information can call Long Beach Police.

It can be difficult to see pedestrians at night. Pedestrians should remember to maximize their visibility in poorly lit areas. This means wearing bright clothing and using designated crosswalks. Look both ways before crossing and never assume that drivers will see you. And drivers should always keep their eyes moving and block out distractions.
