Wife of man killed at Trump rally has not heard from former president

Comperatore was in the audience at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday with her husband Corey and their daughter when a gunman opened fire and attempted to assassinate Trump. Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, used his body to protect his family and was shot in the head. The 50-year-old died at the scene.

Helen Comperatore called her husband a hero to the Washington Post and said his last words to his family were “Shut up!” She also told the newspaper that Trump had not contacted her family and that Biden had tried to call her but she had not spoken to him.

“I didn’t talk to Biden. I didn’t want to talk to him,” said Helen Comperatore. “My husband was a staunch Republican and he wouldn’t have wanted me to talk to him.”

“I have no grudge against Joe Biden,” she added. “I’m not one of those people who gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s the man I’m voting for, but I have no grudge against Biden. He didn’t do anything to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable boy did that.”
