Rape: 22-year-old raped under pretext of marriage | News from Bhopal

Bhopal: A 22-year-old woman from Jehangirabad allegedly befriended a police officer through social media and raped her on the pretext of marriage in a hotel in Jehangirabad. Recently, when the woman pressured her to marry her, he stopped answering his phone. Based on her complaint, Jehangirabad police on Sunday filed a rape case against the accused and started an investigation. Police said the woman had stated in her complaint that she came in touch with the accused through Facebook about a year ago; he is registered as a police officer in Mhow. She alleged that he came to Bhopal for a meeting and called her for a meeting at a hotel in Jehangirabad where he raped her on the promise of marriage. He repeatedly exploited her on the pretext of marriage, the woman alleged. When the accused stopped talking to her in the last few months and she started pressuring him for marriage, the woman decided to report the matter to the police. TNN
