PITTSBURGH – Former President Donald Trump has approved a fundraiser for people injured or killed in a suspected assassination attempt at his rally in Butler on Saturday.

Meredith O’Rourke, the national finance director of Trump’s campaign, launched the GoFundMe campaign on Saturday evening. As of 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning, more than 3,000 people had already donated.

“President Donald Trump has approved this account as a place to donate to the supporters and families injured or killed in today’s brutal and gruesome attack. All donations will go to these proud Americans as they mourn and recover. May God bless and unite our nation,” the description on the page reads.

Trump was injured by gunfire at the rally and eventually released a statement on Truth Social confirming that he was hit by a bullet that pierced the upper right part of his right ear.

The Secret Service confirmed that one bystander was killed and two others were seriously injured. A Highmark Health spokesperson confirmed that the two injured people are being treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Agents also confirmed they killed the shooter, whom the FBI identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park.
