Woman shot in Joliet; man in custody: JPD

JOLIET, IL — A woman suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening in a shooting Saturday morning in Joliet, police said.

According to authorities, the 38-year-old woman was shot shortly before 9:45 a.m. in the 400 block of South Joliet Street.

At around 11 a.m., police asked residents to avoid the 800 block of Julia Avenue while detectives and investigators searched the area for the suspected shooter.

Police told Patch that he was not found on Julia Avenue, but was later tracked down and taken into custody.

According to police, there is no known threat to the community.
