2 men killed after small plane crashes into water at Palm Beach airport – NBC 6 South Florida

Two men were killed Wednesday when a small plane crashed into a body of water near an airport in Palm Beach County.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at North County Airport in West Palm Beach after the plane entered the water, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Divers entered the water and recovered the two men. They were taken to a local hospital, but were pronounced dead upon arrival, officials said.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the men.

Aerial footage showed part of the plane sticking out of the water, and photos released by the sheriff’s office showed the massive response on the ground.

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the aircraft was a Piper PA28.

The sheriff’s office said the wreckage would be secured until the NTSB arrives Thursday to investigate the incident.
