The ridge causing this heat wave is now in full control and is located just below Washington. Due to the location of the ridge, tomorrow will be the hottest day of the week.

Starting Wednesday, several shortwave troughs will move into the region and break through the ridge. As a result of the shortwaves, locally windy conditions will develop in the Columbia Basin and Kittitas Valley. We will likely experience sustained winds of 25 mph or more.

Towards the weekend and into next week, another system will arrive late in the weekend, bringing windy conditions and a slight potential for dry thunderstorms in the mountains on Monday.
