DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Gerardo Ramirez, 25, of the 300 block of Surrey Road, Wheeling, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at 11:51 p.m. June 28 in the 1000 block of Deerfield Road. Multiple callers reported a car traveling west on Deerfield Road in the eastbound lanes. He was released and a court date has been set for July 17.
  • Alexander J. Ahlgrim, 24, of Lexington, Kentucky, is charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a weapon (machete), speeding (60 mph in a 30 mph zone), and was arrested at 9:08 a.m. July 1 in the 1100 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released and has been scheduled for a court date of July 31.

INCIDENTS

THEFT IN SHOPS

  • Police responded to Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, at 7:59 p.m. June 26, for a report of a store theft. A person had placed alcohol in a green bag and left the store without paying for it.
  • Police responded at 2:58 p.m. on June 27 to a robbery at a Discovery Clothing store at 1309 W. Dundee Road. According to the store, two women, who appeared to be shopping, left the store empty-handed and walked to their cars for five minutes before returning to the store. One of them ran out of the store with her keys in her hand. She then parked her car in front of the store, and the second woman ran out of the store and got into her car. They fled in an unknown direction.
  • Police responded to Woodman’s Grocery Store, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 5:32 p.m. on June 28, for a store robbery. Employees told police that two people placed various items in a cart and walked to a register. The duo scanned and paid for only a few items in the cart before leaving the store and not paying for the rest. They loaded the stolen merchandise into a car and drove away.
  • Police responded to Woodman’s Grocery Store at 11:18 a.m. on June 30 for a retail theft. Staff reported that a person stole merchandise three times – June 9 ($25.39), June 26 ($47.91) and June 27 ($26.22) for a total of $99.52. The person was charged with three violations of the village ordinance for retail theft and entered the store on July 1.

FLIGHT

A resident of the 100 block of Old Barn Court reported at 1:21 p.m. on June 28 that FedEx had delivered a package to his home. An unknown man wearing a brown sweatshirt, blue jeans and white slippers took the package and left on foot, heading south on Hidden Lake Drive.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • Police responded to the 900 block of W. Dundee Road at 8:18 a.m. on July 1 for a report of criminal damage to property. The complainant said someone had attempted to steal the business’s golf cart over the weekend. Police observed that the ignition switch appeared to have been removed from the front console.
  • A resident of the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue reported criminal damage to his property on July 2. Someone had damaged his flowers, which were near the garage. Three plants had been pulled out of the ground and laundry detergent had been poured on several other flowers in nearby flower pots.
