Former Lions cornerback suspended for 8 games for incident that led to his dismissal

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton has been suspended eight games for violating the NFL’s code of conduct. The suspension stems from a domestic violence incident in March that led to his exclusion from the team.

Multiple reports Monday said Sutton was suspended without pay following an NFL investigation. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the decision is final and Sutton will not appeal.

Sutton, 29, was released by the Lions in March after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced that there was an outstanding warrant for the player’s arrest for his involvement in a domestic violence incident in Florida.

At the time of his release, Sutton was preparing for the second year of a three-year, $33 million contract he signed with Detroit before the 2023 season.
