Police investigate after woman reports bomb in her car

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Corpus Christi police units responded to a reported bomb threat shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

“A woman arrived at the police station, entered the municipal court building, the entrance there, and stated that she believed there was a bomb in her vehicle,” said CCPD Senior Officer Antonio Contreras.

Police said they called the CCPD bomb disposal unit to further investigate the situation.

“So we decided to shelter in place rather than evacuate the building. We were told that was the best decision we could make. Bomb disposal was activated and was able to check the woman’s vehicle. No explosive device was found,” added Officer Contreras.

Police said the woman would be taken to a medical facility to have her mental condition evaluated.

According to police, North Chaparral has been reopened to all motorists.
