Video shows Venezuelan migrants beating a passenger in Chicago

A disturbing new video shows the moment a group of migrants from Venezuela attacked and robbed a passenger in Chicago in February – one of the men choked the victim until he lost consciousness while the others rummaged through his pockets.

The four suspects – Fernando Loyo-Rodriguez, Wilker Gutierrez Sierra, Carlos Carreno-Carreno and Yonnier Guasamucare Garcia – approached their 49-year-old target on a commuter train in the Windy City on Feb. 17 and began hitting on him, according to surveillance video obtained by Fox News.

But the friendly facade – which included passing around a cigarette or a joint in the car – hid their true motives.

As the video shows, one of the migrants suddenly lunged at the unidentified victim, grabbed him by the neck and applied a chokehold that eventually rendered him unconscious.

As the video shows, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and held it to the victim’s throat while his criminal colleagues rummaged through the man’s pockets.

The group, whose members were all between the ages of 18 and 22, stole $400 and a cell phone from the man and fled, Fox said.

The migrants, who had only been in the country for a few months at most before the attack, were arrested about 45 minutes later.

Each of the men gave their address as a state-funded migrant shelter.

Authorities charged each of them with robbery, aggravated assault/strangulation and attempted murder.

At a court hearing Tuesday in Cook County, a judge ordered Carreno-Carreno, Loyo-Rodriguez and Guasamucare Garcia to be held in custody and released Gutierrez Sierra under electronic monitoring.

Her next hearing is on August 28.

Immigration experts have said three of the four defendants could face deportation if convicted of a crime.

Over the past two years, approximately 35,000 migrants have been sent to the city of Chicago by bus or plane.

The city is housing about 13,000 of these people in emergency shelters.
