Two civilians are killed in a Russian artillery attack on Nikopol

On May 9, Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast military administration, reported on Telegram that a man and a woman were killed and two other men were injured in a Russian shelling in Nikopol.

Russian troops shell the Dnieper bases of Nikopol and Marhanets across the Dnieper River almost daily. The shelling is carried out specifically from the vicinity of the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, thus preventing a counterattack by Ukrainian troops on the firing positions without endangering the safety of the nuclear power plant.

Enemy artillery claimed the lives of a 62-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman. Two men aged 39 and 67 were injured. The city was shelled by the Russians from early in the morning.“Lysak wrote.

The head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast said that in Nikopol, Russian shelling set fire to a single-family home and damaged two others. Five residential buildings were also affected, a shop, two commercial pavilions, farm buildings and a gas pipe were damaged.
