KOCHI: Edavela Babu has spoken about the difficulties he faced as the general secretary of film actors’ association AMMA. Edavela Babu said when some people surrounded and attacked him on social media, not a single person in AMMA supported him. Before resigning, he addressed the members.

“I held the position of Secretary General for everyone and not for my own happiness. There was a massive attack on me on social media. Those who were with me were silent at the time. I got no help from anyone. I was one of others who should have spoken for a person in that position. The new governing body should not have such a bad experience.”

Edavela Babu also pointed out that during the election campaign of the incumbent, it was known that he was a paid secretary. However, he said that the leaders, including Mammootty, Mohanlal and Innocent, strongly supported him in the activities of the organisation.

“When I was the general secretary last time, the organisation saved Rs 3.6 crore, this time it is Rs 1 crore. I am resigning and the organisation is left with another Rs 6.5 crore. When I was in office, the shooting of a Malayalam film was not stopped for a single day,” said Evala Babu.
